Two St. Mary brothers have been charged in relation to a double murder, in Westmoreland, in January.

They are 24-year-old Nicholas Walters of Charles Town, St. Mary; and 21-year-old  Nigel Walters of Charles Town, St. Mary and big woods in Westmoreland.

The men have been charged with two counts of murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

The charges stem from the January 12 murders, of 45-year-old Sophia Brown, and 58-year-old Bernie Lewis, both of Long Hill District, Whitehouse, Westmoreland.

Reports are that Brown, who operates a grocery wholesale was at her business establishment when men entered, posing as customers.

They shot the women.

Brown and Lewis were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Police say on Monday, February 7, both men were positively identified by a witness from viewing CCTV footage.

They were charged on Friday, following question and answer sessions.
