The Jamaica Defence Force JDF, is investigating an incident involving some of its members and residents of Tavern in St. Andrew, last night.

The JDF says the incident which occurred, while members were assisting the police in enforcing the Disaster Risk Management Act, was first reported by the soldiers involved.

It says it is also aware of a protest by residents of Tavern, alleging destruction of property and ongoing abuse of some residents by soldiers.

According to the JDF, the allegations differ from the report initially received from the soldiers.

The JDF has assured that any soldier found to be abusive to citizens will face disciplinary actions.

It is urging citizens to abide by the requirements of the DRMA.
