Minimum wage increase receives mixed reactions from security guards

There are mixed reactions from security guards on the announced increase in the minimum wage, which will take effect on April 1.

The new rate will be $10, 500, for a forty hour work week.

President of the Jamaica Association for Private Security, Teddy-lee Gray, expressed disappointment, noting that the new rate will not improve the standard of living, of guards.

Meantime, President of the Jamaica Society for Industrial Security, Lieutenant commander (retired)  \George Overton, said the increase signifies hope and is a relief from the economic burden, being suffered by guards.

He said stakeholders will discuss the new wage rate, with members.
