Reggae Month IRIE FM Music Awards kicks off Tuesday

One day to go for the return of the highly anticipated REGGAE MONTH IRIE FM MUSIC AWARDS live on the 107s and across the station’s social media platforms.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 1, some 21 Jamaican entertainers and industry players will be awarded for their work when the “Reggae Month Irie Fm Music Awards” is broadcast live.

The awards which was halted for over a decade was re-launched on February 9 during Irie Fm’s Wake Up Call and E-Buzz Programmes.

International entertainers Spice and Sean Paul lead the list of nominees with 6 and 5 nominations respectively.

Among some of the major categories are, the Karl Young Listeners Choice Award, The IRIE FM Living Legend Award, Album of the Year, Deejay of the Year, and Song of the Year.
The IRIE FM Music Awards first held on Valentine’s Day, February 14, in 2006, was the brainchild of senior radio presenter Ainsworth ‘Big A’ Higgins who had been a long-time advocate for the awards. He led the team for three years – 2006, 2007, and 2008.

The awards being held in association with the Ministry of Entertainment, is a part of the Reggae Month celebrations and covers the period January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021.
