Shift schools get two more weeks to prepare for classes

by March 6th, 2022

Schools with established shift systems will have an additional two weeks to prepare for the full resumption of face-to-face classes.

This was disclosed by Acting Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education and Youth, Dr. Kasan Troupe.

Speaking during the ministry’s virtual town hall meeting on Friday, Dr. Troupe said the timeline will enable the schools to work through their challenges.

Dr. Troupe called for patience from parents explaining that schools on the shift system will have to undergo several changes citing a classroom shortage issue, among other things.

In the meantime, she noted that the ministry is not considering the establishment of more shift schools at this time.

Education Minister Fayval Williams also called on parents to be patient noting that the full resumption of in-person classes will need a wholesome effort.

Face-to-face classes are slated to fully resume tomorrow (Monday, March 7, 2022).
