Two additional deaths & 13 new COVID-19 cases recorded

The number of people testing positive for COVID -19 in Jamaica continues to fall.

 

The Health and Wellness Ministry is reporting that 13 people tested positive for the virus yesterday (March 5).

 

This pushed the country’s case count to 128, 179. Of the new cases, seven are females and six are males. They range in age from 7 months to 72 years.

 

Clarendon, Hanover, Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Catherine, St. James, and St. Mary recorded new cases.  St. Catherine recorded the highest number of cases with four.

 

The positivity rate is 3.1%.

 

Meantime, there were two additional deaths.  The health ministry says four other deaths are under investigation.

 

Eighty-nine people are hospitalized. Twenty-two of them are moderately ill, five are severely ill and four are critically ill.

 

The Ministry notes that 185 people have recovered pushing the recovery tally to 78,664.
