by March 6th, 2022

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says the lessons learnt throughout the COVID-19 pandemic have prepared the country for the resumption of face-to-face classes.

Schools are slated to resume full face-to-face sessions tomorrow.

Speaking at the Ministry of Education’s virtual town-hall meeting this weekend, Dr. Tufton said he is very supportive of the re-opening of schools.

He emphasized that both ministries will be working to ensure that steps are taken to promote the safety and development of students.

The minister sought to assure the public that plans are in place to facilitate health and safety in the classrooms.

Dr. Tufton said in preparation for the full resumption of classes, a sensitization exercise was conducted for members of “critical teams”, including teachers and support staff.

He further indicated that additional provisions and protocols were instituted at schools, including establishing hand washing and sanitization stations, and introducing “mask-breaks”.
