Opposition calls on Education Ministry to clearly outline policy to guide resumption of full face-to-face classes amid COVID-19 pandemic

The Opposition is calling on the Education Ministry to clearly outline a policy to guide operations at schools, as full face-to-face classes resume.

 

Thousands of students across the island turned out for classes yesterday (March 7), the largest turn-out since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The students had their temperatures checked, sanitized their hands and wore masks.

 

Opposition Spokesperson on Education, Dr. Angela Brown Burke welcomed the full resumption, however, she is calling on the Government to clearly outline the protocols, which will ensure that students, teachers and other stakeholders are safe.

 

She says there need to be clear physical distancing rules.

Dr. Brown Burke adds that there should be clarification as to whether or not safety shields will be added to students’ desks.

Dr. Brown Burke was speaking with reporters, yesterday.
