Over 1,000 complaints received by INDECOM against members of the security forces, last year

by March 10th, 2022

The Independent Commission of Investigation, INDECOM says the number of complaints it received last year against members of the security forces surpassed the one thousand mark.

Commissioner of INDECOM Hugh Faulkner says 2021 was the second year that complaints were made in over one thousand matters.

Allegations of Assault by law enforcement officers, led the complaints.

Commissioner Faulkner says the other major complaints related to: discharge of firearm, fatal shooting incidents, unprofessional conduct and residents reporting being threatened by members of the security forces.

Mr. Faulkner was speaking at a press conference this morning (March 10).
