Opposition Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson has cautioned the government against divesting its 20% stake in the Jamaica Public Service (JPS).
In his budget debate contribution yesterday Mr. Robinson noted that, with the current global energy crisis, it’s crucial that government remains a shareholder to mitigate the impact on citizens.
Mr. Robinson also raised concern about how the issue of electricity theft would be handled by a privately owned JPS.
He called on the government to implement more social intervention measures that will reduce instances of electricity theft.
