Island Traffic Authority and JCF to carry-out joint operation to address the issue of excessively loud motorcycles

by March 12th, 2022

The Island Traffic Authority, ITA and the Jamaica Constabulary Force, will be embarking on a joint operation, to address the issue of excessively loud motorcycles, which they say, have been causing disturbances in communities across the island.

Additionally, motorcycles found to be unlicensed, uninsured and without a valid certificate of fitness will be seized.

ITA Director, Kenute Hare noted that complaints have been increasing, as there has been an unusual level of noise emitted from motorcycles.

The noise results from the removal of silencers from mufflers on the motorcycles.

Mr. Hare is urging bikers to desist from removing the silencers, adding that this practice is illegal and will not be tolerated.

He said spot checks will be conducted on roadways across the island to assess motorcycles.
