by March 14th, 2022

Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Unit, Dr. Lucien Jones is again, calling for the regulations of the new Road Traffic Act to be passed.

His renewed call, follows 4 road deaths at the weekend, which push the number of people killed on the nation’s roadways, since the start of the year, to 92.

Among the four latest deaths are 38yearold Anastacia Edwards of Hampton Heights in Runaway Bay, who was killed in a fiery accident along the pear tree bottom main road in the parish, on Sunday; and 23-year-old Richard Townsend, of Mitchell Town scheme in Clarendon, who died along the Salt River main road in Clarendon on Saturday.

In light of the climbing number of road deaths, Dr. Jones told Irie Fm news, that it would be prudent to pass the regulations for the new traffic act, which were tabled in parliament last month.

Dr. Jones said the passing of the regulations, will force drivers to exercise greater caution on the nation’s roadways and save lives.
