Taxi operators in Clarendon have embarked on the second day of protest over poor road conditions in the Milk River area.

The operators mounted roadblocks and withdrew service in Crooks Gate and surrounding areas this morning (March 15), resulting in scores of motorists and commuters, including students being left stranded.

One operator told IRIE FM news that the protest will continue until operators are convinced that the poor road conditions will be addressed.

He said the state of the road has caused damage to their vehicles.

Meantime, one parent said his child who attends the Central High School in May Pen is among several students who are unable to attend school for a second consecutive day.

He noted that students who attend the Garvey Maceo High, Denbigh High and Clarendon College are also impacted by the protest.

The parent explained, however, that he understands the plight of the taxi operators.

One truck driver has, however, described the protest as an inconvenience, saying it prevented him from carrying out his work duties, which will affect his salary.
