The United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has lowered Jamaica’s Covid-19 risk level.

It is now at level three, down from level four.

This means US citizens are no longer warned to avoid travel to Jamaica, but rather to ensure that they are fully vaccinated before travelling.

The lower risk level comes as Jamaica continues to see a decline in the number of COVID-19 cases recorded daily and a consistently low positivity rate.

Jamaica is among nine nations in the Caribbean and the Atlantic, which received improved ratings in the latest ranking from the CDC.

They include Cuba, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Dominican Republic.

Reacting to the upgrade, Senior Strategist in the Ministry, Delano Seiveright said it would be a positive development for some visitors.
