Minister of Industry, Senator Aubyn Hill, is encouraging producers of blocks and other building materials, to not cut corners in the making of their products.

This, as he emphasized the need for compliance, with building codes to ensure the safety of citizens, in homes and commercial buildings.

Senator hill said Jamaicans are investing significant resources in buildings.

He noted that the health and safety of those who occupy the spaces, depend on whether the building materials that make up the spaces, meet required specifications.

Senator Hill also appealed to government officials to encourage persons who engage in block making, to get their businesses registered.

He was speaking on Tuesday at the virtual launch of the hollow concrete blocks and ready-mix concrete standards, hosted by the bureau of standards.
