Hanover police issue stern warning to criminals who continue to wreak havoc on the parish

The Hanover police are issuing a strong warning to criminals who continue to wreak havoc on the parish.

This, after 3 persons were shot and killed and 4 others shot and wounded, in Logwood, Green Island in the parish last evening (March 16).

 

Dead are 44-year-old Omar Mahabee, and 55-year-old Michael Smith both of Logwood District and 37-year-old, Mark Austin of Shantoy District Green Island; all in Hanover.

 

Police say about 7:30 pm, Mahabee, Smith and Austin were installing a security system at a business establishment when gunmen approached and opened fire hitting them.

 

Four other men were also shot.

 

The seven wounded men were taken to hospital, where Austin, Mahabee and Smith were pronounced dead.

 

The others were admitted in serious but stable condition.

 

Head of the Hanover police, Superintendent Sharon Beeput told IRIE FM news that her team will not relent in the quest to maintain law and order in the parish.

 

She explained that among the issues driving crime in the parish are murders and extortion.

Superintendent Beeput is urging residents and other stakeholders to collaborate with the police to address the issue.
