A man who escaped custody at the Montego Bay lock-up in St. James was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police, on Huntley Drive in Bellaire Meadows, St. Ann, yesterday (March 20).

Dead is 29-year-old Ainsley Woodburn, a farmer of Belmont District in St. James.

Woodburn who was wanted for six murders and several incidents of shooting, was shot dead at about 3:45 p.m.

One Glock 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seven 9mm catridges was reportedly seized during the incident.

The Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Investigations are probing the incident.
