The government will be giving householders some well needed relief, in the form of part payment of their electricity bills, over the next few months.

The announcement was made today by Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, as he closed the budget debate in parliament.

Dr. Clarke noted that many citizens, both in the middle and lower income brackets, are facing challenges with high light bills from the Jamaica Public Service, due to the impact of rising global oil prices.

So as part of social intervention strategies, the government will be implementing the ‘We Care Energy Co-pay’ initiative.

Dr. Clarke added that pre- paid customers of the JPS, will also get assistance.
