by March 24th, 2022

The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) says the country is seeing a decrease in the average size of its households.

That’s according to the findings of the 2019 Jamaica Survey of Living Conditions.

Speaking at the release of the findings yesterday (March 23), Director of Policy Research at the PIOJ, Suzette Johnson noted that the average size of households is about 2.7.

Female-headed households saw a more marked decrease compared to male-headed households.

Ms. Johnson noted that single-member households are on the rise.
