Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke becomes third Jamaican to be elected Chair of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank

Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr. Nigel Clarke has become the third Jamaican to be elected as Chair of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

 

Dr. Clarke assumed the role during the IDB and IDB Invest Annual Meeting this morning (March 28).

 

Governors are the highest policy-formulation authorities of the IDB.

 

Governor of Paraguay Oscar Llamosas Díaz and Governor of Canada, Andrew Hurst both expressed confidence in Dr. Clarke’s ability to carry out his new responsibility.

Meantime, in expressing his gratitude for the support from his fellow Governors, Dr. Clarke noted that he recognizes the IDB’s commitment to deepening its partnership within the Latin and Caribbean region.

Dr. also thanked the IDB for its support in Jamaica’s economic growth.
