by March 29th, 2022

An application for the immediate release or charge of one of the policemen allegedly linked to the Clarendon-based Ranko Gang has been filed in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court.

Defence Attorney Vincent Wellesley filed the application on behalf of the policeman who was one of the four cops arrested last week Friday.

When the matter came before the court today (March 29), Mr. Wellesley said so far, no identification parade has been held for his client.

A police officer apologised to the court for the delay in identification parades being held and could not say when the process would be held for Mr. Wellesley’s client.

The matter has been set for Thursday for the court to be informed, if an identification parade has been held.

One of the four policemen who was arrested last week Friday has been released as its reported that witnesses are not cooperating.

It was reported that the four policemen who were arrested were among the eight policemen allegedly linked to the 27-member gang allegedly led by a police constable.

The police say, the gang is believed to have committed several crimes including robberies across the island, between 2019 and last year.

The alleged leader of the gang and two civilians are before the Home Circuit Court facing charges of conspiracy to murder.
