Education Ministry to implement strategies to mitigate negative impacts of the pandemic on students

Education Minister Fayval Williams says her ministry is implementing new strategies to mitigate the negative impacts the pandemic had on students during the closure of schools.

Mrs. Williams brought remarks at the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEAM) Career Forum at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, this morning (April 1).

She said with reports of students performing unsatisfactorily since their return, the ministry has dedicated resources to revamp the education system.

Mrs. Williams said emphasis will be placed on project based and problem solving learning at all levels to help struggling students and there will also be a new program for teacher training.

 

Mrs. Williams adds that the ministry wants students to excel in all fields as it will not only contribute to personal benefits ,but also to their families, communities and Jamaica as a whole.
