A man suspected of murdering a shop keeper in Annotto Bay, St. Mary, was fatally shot this morning, during a confrontation with the police.
Its reported, that forty-five-year-old Claudia Ponsingh of Crooked River, Annotto Bay, in the parish, was shot and killed by a man in her shop on Sunday.
Police say, about 5:30 p.m., Ponsingh was at home when she was called to attend to a customer in the shop.
Upon her arrival in the shop, a man posing as a customer, opened gunfire hitting Ponsingh to the head, before escaping.
Ponsingh was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Its further reported, that hours later, 25-year-old Fredrick Palmer otherwise called ‘Sledge’ of the community, was shot and killed by the police during a confrontation.
A .38 revolver firearm was seized after the incident.
The incident is being probed by the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (Iprob) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom).
