Opposition Leader Mark Golding is calling on the government to urgently intervene in a land dispute between informal settlers and the owners of a property in Little Bay, Westmoreland.
The call follows an incident yesterday (April 6), where the residents resisted an attempt to demolish their homes and business places.
Police were called in to quell the longstanding dispute over the 800 plus acre property.
Several of the residents claim their families have been occupying the lands for decades and that they have been paying taxes for the lands.
As such, the Opposition Leader is urgently calling on Prime Minister Andrew Holness to intervene before the situation gets volatile.
