Race Course Primary in Clarendon in mourning, following murder of 8 year old student

The police have identified the 8-year-old boy who was shot and killed at his home in Clarendon last evening (April 6).

Dead is Thomas James Junior of Second Street, Hayesfield.

His father was also wounded in the incident, and has been hospitalised in serious condition.

Reports are that about 7:30 pm Thomas and his father were at a shop which is located at their home, when a gunman walked into the shop, purchased an item and fired several shots, before escaping.

Thomas and his father were taken to hospital where the 8 year old was pronounced dead.

Investigations continue.

Meantime, grief counselling is being conducted at the Race Course Primary and Infant school in Clarendon where young Thomas was a student.

A staff member at the school told Irie Fm News that the school population is saddened by his death.
