by April 18th, 2022

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for St. Mary, Portland and St. Thomas.

The Meteorological Office says the advisory will remain in effect until 5 AM tomorrow (April 19).

It notes that observational data indicate that moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms have been occurring across sections of St. Mary, Portland and St. Thomas since early this morning.

Periods of showers and thunderstorms with occasional gusty winds are expected to continue affecting eastern parishes.

It is anticipated that these conditions will gradually extend to central and western parishes this afternoon.

A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible.

Residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the meteorological service and be ready for quick action, if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
