Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay Richard Vernon, has indicated that the Municipal Corporation will monitor the situation and provide support, to relatives of the woman and girl who were washed away by flood waters in West Gate, yesterday.
The girl‘s body was recovered, while the search for her grandmother, will resume today (April 20).
A man and another woman, who were also in the vehicle that was washed away, had been rescued by residents.
Councillor Vernon was at the police station last night, among the group offering comfort to family members grieving the tragic loss.
He noted that the child‘s mother was inconsolable.
The Deputy Mayor refuted claims by some residents, that the flooding resulted from blocked drains.
