The Opposition People’s National Party, PNP says its not prepared at this time to support any move to import labour.

Spokesperson on Labour and Social Security, Floyd Morris was reacting to comments by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, yesterday.

The Prime Minister said Jamaica is facing a shortage of skilled workers and could be forced to import labour, if the gap is not closed.

However Mr. Morris states that the country’s labour needs, must be examined.

According to him, the real problem faced by young people is compensation for work.

Senator Morris says the government also needs to ramp up the training of the skilled workers, citing the initiative under which heart trust conducts on the job certification.
