Efforts being made to offer employment opportunities to homeless people in Kingston

by April 25th, 2022

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Desmond McKenzie, says efforts are being made to offer employment opportunities to some homeless people in Kingston.

Noting that people within this group are often living on the streets due to their inability to earn a living, Mr. McKenzie says the intention is to help empower them.

He states that employment opportunities have already been found for some homeless people.

Meantime, Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams says assistance is being sought from the private sector to expand the jobs for the homeless initiative.

The Mayor and Mr. McKenzie were speaking with reporters at the inaugural ‘Wellness Day of Care for the Homeless’ at the William Grant Park in Downtown Kingston on Saturday.
