Jamaica’s COVID-19 positivity rate increases to 23.8% while hospitalizations increase to 37

Jamaica’s COVID-19 positivity rate and hospitalizations continue to increase.

 

The positivity rate has increased to 23.8% from the 18.2% reported yesterday (May 2).

 

This as 89 new cases were recorded yesterday.

 

The 55 females and 34 males range in age from 1 month to 91 years.

 

St. James recorded the highest number of cases with 33, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 14.

 

Meantime, the number of persons hospitalized with the virus has increased to 37.

 

Among them, 10 are moderately ill, 2 critically ill and 1 severely ill.

 

The Health and Wellness Ministry has also reported 2 new COVID-19 related deaths.

 

The deceased are two males, an 89-year-old from St. Catherine and a 68-year old from Kingston and St. Andrew.

 

The COVID-19 death toll is now 2, 969.
