Medical Association says Jamaica is at risk of entering another COVID-19 wave as positivity rate continues to rise

by May 3rd, 2022

With a continuously rising COVID-19 positivity rate, President of the Medical Association of Jamaica (MAJ) Dr. Brian James says Jamaica is at risk of another COVID-19 wave.

Yesterday (May 2) the Health and Wellness Ministry reported a COVID positivity rate of 18.2% and 133 new cases.

Speaking with IRIE F-M news, Dr. James expressed concern that many persons seem to believe that the COVID-19 pandemic has ended.

He warned, however, that if the trend continues, coupled with the low vaccination rate, Jamaica could see a fifth COVID wave.

Dr. James is urging persons to protect themselves.
