In addition to the annual celebrations during May such as Child Month, Mental Health Awareness, and the recently concluded Teacher’s Day and Mother’s Day, a string of Dancehall projects are slated for release during the month.

Sean Paul, Shaggy, and Skillibeng are some of the Dancehall entertainers expected to release albums and an EP this month.

Three years after his 2019 EP Prodigy, on May 12, Skillibeng is gearing up for the release of his EP titled Mr. Universe. The new EP also follows his debut LP Crocodile Teeth, which sold 627 units during its first week of release in October 2021.

Meanwhile, Multi-Grammy winner Shaggy has teamed up once again with international entertainer Sting for Come Fly Wid Mi, a collection of reggae-revised Frank Sinatra hits. The 10-track project produced by Sting, will be released on May 25.

On the weekend, Dancehall superstar Sean Paul announced that Scorcha, a follow-up to his Grammy-nominated album Live N Livin, is set for release on May 27.

The 15-track project, which is Sean Paul’s eighth studio album, will feature collaborations with the likes of Gwen Stefani, Damian Marley, Ty Dolla Sign, Shenseea, Jada Kingdom, and Stylo G.

Last Friday, May 6, Vybz Kartel’s sons Likkle Vybz and Likkle Addi released their joint album, Team Different.

All the albums released and slated for release in May are within the 2023 Grammy eligibility period that started on October 1, 2021, and will end on September 30.
