JAPHI rejects offer made by Gov’t for health inspectors under new compensation review

by May 10th, 2022

The Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors (JAPHI) has rejected the offer made by Government for health inspectors under the new compensation review.

President of JAPHI, Michael Myers says after assessing the figures in the offer, JAPHI realized that public health inspectors would be placed in a worse situation than their current wage package.

He says the Finance Ministry’s proposal to discontinue several benefits accessible to public sector workers compounds the frustration of workers in the current economic environment.

He says the workers will not settle until they are provided with a salary offer that considers the high inflation and continued fluctuation of the Jamaican dollar.

The Association has requested a revision of the offer by the Finance Ministry with a view to providing a renewed and better offer.

Mr. Myles says he cannot guarantee normalcy as the workers are frustrated.
