by May 13th, 2022

Defending champions Excelsior have retained the ISSA/Tip Friendly Society High School Girls football title after rushing to a 3-nil win over first time finalist Garvey Maceo in the championship match at the JC Asheniem Stadium.

Davia Richards from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute penalty, 56th minute own goal and a screamer from Chantay Pryce in the 78th minute lifted the Mountain View Avenue based school to their 9th title.

Winning coach Xavier Gilbert assessed the performance and also spared a thought for his vanquished opponents. “ The girls played exceptionally well not only today, but all season and this performance only serves as another reminder that they are all talented in their own right, I say hats off to them and every one who made the victory happen this afternoon.”

Gilbert added, “ I say hats off to my opponents Garvey Maceo as well, I thought they gave us a real good fight and given how far they have come, they should be proud of themselves.”

Meanwhile, Davia Richards of Excelsior High won the Golden Boot awards with a whopping 31 goals, while teammate and national under 17 player Shaniel Buckley was named tournament MVP.

Janiel Mignott….also of Excelsior…..took home the defensive player award.
