Member of Parliament for Westmoreland Central George Wright has indicated that today‘s (May 19), meeting with upset taxi operators from Darliston was productive, and that further discussions with other stakeholders will be had at a later date.
The meeting came after days of protest by the taxi operators, who withdrew their service and mounted road blocks to highlight their grouse over several issues.
The road blocks have since been cleared and the taxi operators have resumed normal duties.
Mr. Wright said the parties discussed issues to include, poor road conditions, the need for signage and inadequate facilities.
He said a date has not yet been set for the follow up meeting.
He said, in the meantime, some remedial work is being done to the roadway.
