The St Andrew South Police have theorized that the attack on a politician and his family along Marcus Garvey Drive yesterday (May 26) was a contracted hit.

Dead is Lennox Hines, Jamaica Labour Party Councillor Caretaker for the Southboro Division in Portmore, St Catherine.

The incident occurred shortly after 5 P-M.

Reports are that armed men on motorcycles approached the vehicle being driven by Hines when it stopped at the traffic light near the bridge and opened fire hitting him.

Head of the police division, Senior Superintendent, Kirk Ricketts said two females were in the vehicle with Hines.

One of them – the politician’s daughter, was not hurt.

The other, a woman said to be Hines’ companion, has been hospitalized. Her condition is not known.
