Councillor for Waterhouse Division calls on NSWMA to ensure garbage collection at schools; pile up hindered normal operations at St. Patrick’s Primary last week

by May 30th, 2022

Councillor for the Waterhouse Division in St. Andrew, Byron Clarke is calling on the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) to ensure that garbage is collected at schools in a timely manner.

This as face-to-face classes for students in grades 1 to 5 at the St. Patrick’s Primary School in the division were suspended last week due to a garbage pile up.

Classes for those grades were reverted to the online teaching and learning modality.

Grade six students were allowed to attend face-to-face classes in preparation for upcoming examinations.

Speaking with reporters, Mr. Clarke said this is the second time the school is being affected by the issue.

He said in the most recent case, the garbage was not collected for weeks.

He is urging the NSWMA to give special consideration to schools.
