Carib Cement workers reject 19% wage increase

by May 31st, 2022

Production workers at the Caribbean Cement Company, (Carib Cement), have rejected a 19 % wage increase being offered by the company, over a three year period.

The workers who met with the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees, (UCASE) on Tuesday, rejected the offer, describing it as unacceptable.

President of UCASE Vincent Morrison told Irie Fm news that the union has been mandated by the workers to resume negotiations.

He said the rising cost of living is one of the main factors which influenced the rejection.

He said the union will be relaying the outcome of the meeting to Carib cement and he expects negotiations to resume by next week.

The negotiation for the increase in wages for the over 50 production workers began last September.
