A policeman and his girlfriend who were facing the court in relation to a sexual assault case have been freed.

36-year-old Constable Michael Brown was charged with rape, while Natoya Thompson was charged with aiding and abetting rape.

The case against them was dismissed yesterday (June 14) in the home circuit court, after the complainant indicated that she was no longer interested in the case.

The complainant had reported that in May 2016, she was at a party with both accused.

She said she felt drowsy after being served a drink by one of the accused at the party.

She reported that she was invited to the home of both accused, and while there, the policeman raped her, with the assistance of his girlfriend, who handed him a condom.

Both accused had denied the allegations and Constable Brown said the complainant had consented.

The accused were represented by Queen’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and Attorney-At-Law Caprice Morrison.
