Bahamian World and Olympic 400 metres champion, Steven Gardiner will miss this weekend’s World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Gardiner confirmed on his instagram account that he has a tendon inflammation which will keep him out of the 10-day meet.
Gardiner was one of the favourites for gold in the event in Eugene.
He won the 2019 World Championships 400metres gold medal in Doha, Qatar in a national record 43.48 seconds.
Last year he captured the Olympic title in Tokyo, Japan in 43.85 seconds.
