Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie has pledged to provide funds to assist vendors affected by the recent fire at the Highgate market, in St Mary.

He did not state the amount of the funding support.

The Minister, other Government officials and representatives from some agencies visited the market yesterday (July 21).

Speaking at a town hall meeting in the parish capital last evening, Mr McKenzie said a temporary system will help vendors continue earning.

He said efforts are being made to clean a section of the market to temporarily house the slaughterhouse.
