Taxi groupings call for compensation over bad gas

by December 23rd, 2015

Corporate area taxi operators are voicing their distrust in the ability of the government, to compensate them for loss incurred, due to sub-standard fuel.

The Jamaica Association of Taxi Owners and Operators- JATOO, and the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services- TODSS, say they feel the government has not taken them seriously.

The group, which met this morning at Mandela Park in Kingston, joined with a growing number of concerned motorists, who have complained of sub-standard gas.

Despite assessments being ordered by the government into the alleged bad gas, the group says, it is not hopeful about any compensation.

First vice president of JATOO, Everton Stiles, says from the assessment, the gas stations found to be guilty of selling sub-standard gas should be held responsible for compensation.

Meanwhile, one operator, Yvette Burke says, she has lost three days worth of income, and she expects those responsible to be forced to compensate those who have incurred loss.
