Police High Command saddened at stabbing death of Detective Sergeant; 2 men arrested following incident

The Police High Command has expressed sadness at the death of a detective sergeant who was fatally stabbed in St. Catherine, yesterday (September 10).

He has been identified as, 65-year-old Victor Francis, who was assigned to the Centre for the Investigations of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, CISOCA Headquarters.

Reports from the Caymanas Police are that about 6:35 p.m., two men had an altercation, when Francis attempted to intervene and was stabbed.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The two men who were fighting have been taken into custody.

In light of the incident, the Commissioner of Police is reinforcing his call for members of the public to seek peaceful means to settle conflicts.

Meantime, the Force’s Chaplaincy Branch, and Welfare Department are providing support to the family members, friends and colleagues of Detective Sergeant Francis.
