A Sperm Whale which was stranded along the Negril Beach in Westmoreland this morning (October 2), has been safely returned to deep waters.

A video circulated on social media showed the whale close to shore.

Communications Manager at the National Environment and Planning Agency, NEPA Ollyvia Anderson told Irie FM News that the mammal may have ended up in Jamaica’s shallow waters due to a storm.

She said a multi-agency team helped to guide the whale back out to sea.
