Minister of Technology, Daryl Vaz, says a consultant has been identified to assist the government in modernizing the postal service.

Speaking at the re-opening of the Central Sorting Office on Thursday, Mr. Vaz noted that technology has opened up tremendous possibilities for the inclusion of ICT in postal services.

He said modernization efforts have come a far way, but there is more to be done.

Mr. Vaz noted that a consultant has been retained to take the modernization process a step further.

He urged the post and telecom department to explore the possibility of re-opening some rural area post offices, that had been closed.
