The St. Ann Chamber of Commerce says its gravely concerned about the chronic crime problem plaguing the parish.

Chamber President Dr. Ransford Davidson points to an increase in criminal activities, noting that the uptick is generally seen around festive periods.

He says he supports the state of emergency imposed in the parish this morning but notes that it’s not a long-term crime-fighting tool.

Dr. Davidson is urging the various stakeholders to develop an effective crime plan.
