The Health Ministry says it is closely monitoring and gathering data on the Covid-19 situation in China and other parts of the world.

China in particular has seen an increase in covid-19 cases and deaths.

Today, the United States became the latest country to impose mandatory Covid tests on Chinese tourists, after China announced it would reopen its borders next week.

Tighter measures have also been brought in by Italy, Japan and India.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor Mckenzie says the Health Ministry’s International Health Regulations Unit and the National Epidemiology Branch are also monitoring the situation.

She says the ministry will further update the country on this and other public health matters in the coming days.
