At least 1 road fatality has so far been recorded for 2023.

Dead is 20-year-old JDF soldier, private Javaughnie Morris of Lincoln district, in Grange Hill, Westmoreland.

The crash occurred along the Bethel Town main road in the parish, yesterday (January 1).

Reports are that about 3:15 p.m. Morris and another soldier were traveling in a patrol vehicle when it collided with a water truck.

Both JDF members were taken to hospital where Morris was pronounced dead.
