A mother and her 5-year-old son perished in a house fire in Berkshire, Westmoreland last night (March 6).

Dead are 38-year-old hairdresser, Keisha Walters, and Joel Brown of the community.

Public Relations Officer for the Jamaica Fire Brigade Emilio Ebanks told IRIE FM news that firefighters responded to the blaze at around 11 PM.

He said the board-dwelling was engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene, and the charred remains of the mother and child were found after the cooling down process.
