A 42-year-old man has been charged with the murder and rape of 9-year-old Nikita Noel in Hanover, last month.

He is Omar Green otherwise called ‘Ommi’ or ‘Cornerman’, a construction worker of Barbery Hill, Lucea in the parish.

Reports are that a relative reported Nikita, who was from Kew district in Hanover, missing at about 7:30 p.m  on February 1, after she did not return from school.

A search was conducted and Nikita’s body was found in bushes with a wound to the face.

A post mortem examination revealed that she was strangled.

Police say Green, who was taken into custody as a person of interest was charged after the results of forensic evidence confirmed that he raped the child.

Green’s court date is being arranged.
